A study of the direction and persistence of action of man is a study of motivation. Let us therefore examine the role of needs, wants, motives or desires in the determination and control of action and thoughts of an individuals. When an individual interacts with members of his works groups he brings with him his motives, perceptions, culture and personality. To understand an individuals performance, efficiency and effectivenes, it is important to know hiw motivation and perception. The extent to which his needs are satisfied on the job will partly determine his participation in the achievement of organization goals,. this brings us to a brief discussion of motivation.
